Country of Origin: Portugal, Mediterranean countries.
Exrtaction: Distillation.
Colour: Pale yellow/clear.
Aroma: Clear and refreshing, with pleasantly smoky, woody overtones.
History and Myth: Symbolised "everlastingness" to ancient Greeks and Romans, which may be why cypress trees are so often found in the churchyards and cemeteries of Europe.
Caution: May help regulate the menstrual cycle, so should be avoided druing pregnancy, particularly in the early months.
Wellbeing: Soothing, encouraging a sense of comfort. ideal during difficult or painful times, such as bereavement or the end of an important relationship.
Body: May help reduce symptoms of prementral and menstraul tension and menopause. Its warming qualities may help reduce muscular aches and pains, and ease stiffness or swelling in joints. May ease the discomfort of varicose veins. Soothes coughs and bronchial irritation.
Skin: Its moisturising qualities are particularly beneficial for mature or weathered skin. The antiseptic properties are useful in the care of wounds.
